My first project as a Software Development Manager at the TCC was to redesign the full version of Parent Portal. The TCC was in the process of rebranding its software under the name Ascender and the current (full) version was looking pretty dated.
I had just completed my prior project (Career Portal), and had witnessed how well received the responsive design paradigm had been received.
My vision was to completely redesign the UI of Parent Portal, while simultaneously rewriting the code from ASP.Net Web Forms to MVC.
We mocked up a small prototype and presented the strategy roadmap to the stakeholders group and got approval.
From that point on, I served (in function) as both the Product and Project manager. I would collaborate frequently with stake holders, gathering requirements, refine the backlog, manage resources, and oversee development.
The final product was a huge success. It exceeded all expectations, and brought even more user friendly options than expected.
This is an early promotional video I produced to introduce the product to school district managers across the state.
