Product or Project Manager
Despite Project Manager and Product Manager being distinct roles, many organizations will attempt to combine the roles. In the organizations I've worked for I've been responsible for filling both of these roles. Each of the projects showcased below represent examples where I have served as both a product manager and a project manager.
As a Product Manager I would:
- Have a vision for the product
- Form the strategy and roadmap for development
- Engage with Stakeholders
- Gather Requirements
- Create prototypes and further refine the backlog (in the cases Agile was used)
- Be responsible for releases and organizational training.
As a Project Manager I would:
- Oversee or (in many cases) personally participate in the developing the product
- Manage resource
- Insure adherence to standards
- Measure and manage capacity
- Facilitate cross-team organization
- Problem solve
It turns out, that despite my love of coding, database development, user interface design and user experience, my favorite part of the job is project management. I love bringing it all together.
